The week from Arctic Hell....

Ah, what a week it has been! TGIFF (Thank God it’s f-ing Friday).

Columbus, OH has had some of its coldest temperatures in YEARS (much like the rest of the country) and on top of that, the heat in our house went out for those coldest days. I spent lots of time snuggled under about 6 fleece blankets and wondering why the hell we live in Ohio. Even our half-husky dog was too cold! That’s saying a lot.

Downtown Columbus also had a water line break which affected much of the downtown area including my office. We had our first “adult snow-day” which meant I spent most of the day working from home and snuggled under those 6 fleece blankets. I have a feeling this week is one of those weeks that I will look back on when I’m 70 and say “remember when?” Making memories whether they are good or bad, I guess.

2014 has not had the greatest start to say the least. It hasn’t been just about the weather, but so many other things happening in life. So my question is, is this a sign for what is to come in 2014? Or can things only go up from here? I hope things can only go up from here or else I’m in for one hell of a year.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone! And remember to always be kind, everyone is fighting some sort of battle...whether you can see it or not.

Until next time,

Danielle

Everybody's working for the weekend

Hey party people! Happy Friday to you and yours.

I’m enjoying the last “relaxed” day at work before the S hits the fan on Monday when everyone returns to work and the craziness of a new year sets it. My calendar is full of a lot of meetings and to be honest, I’m pretty excited about it! I’m one of those people who strive on being busy and it looks like 2014 will be just that. Busy-ness doesn't stress me out, but it excites me, which is why I really do love my job.

 This weekend is the first weekend in weeks that we have no formal obligations so my plan is to:
  •           Catch up on laundry and take down Christmas decorations
  •          Watch the Buckeyes and Blue Jackets win (hopefully)
  •          Hang out with a few friends
  •          And finally, sleep in and relax!

Life post-holidays for me is all about getting back on a schedule which also includes scheduling in some down-time at home. I love it!

I hope the new year is treating you all well so far!

Go Bucks and Go Blue Jackets!

Until next time -- Danielle

New Year - new aspirations

Happy New Year, people!

As always, I have huge aspirations for the upcoming year including keeping up with this little blog of ours! We have so many family members that love to stay in touch with our adventures that I figured this could be the best little space to do so...and it will be nice to document our life so when we're old and have kids we can say "Hey, we were once young and cool, too!" So here is one of my resolutions…blog 3 times a week. I can handle that right?...maybe…we’ll see.

Jason and I kicked off the New Year by ringing it in with some really great friends! We went to a new restaurant in German Village called “The Kitchen” and the whole place was adorable. Gold sparkled table linens, champagne tasting, comfy couches and great company…I was in event planning heaven! It was a fun evening full of lots of champs and lots of laughs…I was feeling a bit Heather Dubrow-ish.

New Years Day I was up early to work a 5k in Westerville called First on the First. It was a great race and I got to spend some quality-time with a fun co-worker. The rest of the day consisted of naps and seeing American Hustle with friends.

If New Years Eve/Day is any indication of what 2014 will be like…it will be full of laughs, work and good friends. I’m ready for you!

What are your resolutions?

Until next time -- Danielle

Cccchanges

I will be the first to admit that I HATE change. Once I get in the habit or get comfortable with something, I hate even thinking about making a change.
Some examples:
{Example 1}
I CRIED at the beginning of each school year from elementary to high school (and let’s admit it, bawled like a baby when I went to college). I would wonder:
“would this year top last year?”
“Would I still be friends with the same people?”
“What if my teachers hate me?!?”
Needless to say, I’m a big ol’ baby.
{Example 2}
I had a bit of an anxiety attack when thinking about moving out of our apartment. Sure our place is small, old and does not have a washer/dryer or a back area for little Hannah to run around in (luckily we have a dog park right behind the complex) but this is our first HOME! I love it to no ends so the thought of leaving it, makes for an anxious Danielle.
{Example 3}
My sister gave us an AMAZING king bed but instead of basking in the large bed goodness, I convinced Jason to put the king bed in our spare room for guests Hannah and my clothes to enjoy because I could not bare the thought of not sleeping in our first bed. Crazy, right?
..................................
Now, before you all recommend that I see a psychiatrist (believe me, I’ve thought about it before too), I have come to the realization that change is GOOD. We need change to grow or else I would still be stuck in 1st grade with Mrs Creed as my teacher…but I’m sure I would be really good at cursive if that happened.
Anyways, there are some changes that are about to come in my life and for once, I am welcoming those changes with open arms! I’m excited to grow, experience something new and get out of my comfort zone. Hopefully I'll be able to update you all soon about these changes!

One Year Ago...

...I was putting on my perfect dress.

…I was surrounded by my best girls and Jason was with his best guys.

…My mom and I planned the perfect wedding day for Jason and me.

…I was walking down the aisle in my childhood church with my dad.

…My handsome groom was waiting at the end of the aisle.

…Pastor Jen gave the most beautiful and perfect sermon for us.

…We said our “I do’s”.

…We walked out of the church as Mr & Mrs Wagner with “Here Comes the Sun” by The Beatles playing.

…Two families became one.

…We danced to Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love”

...My brother dodged catching the garter.

…We danced the night away with family and friends.

…I married my best friend.

Happy one year anniversary, Jason! This has been one of the best years of my life and I am so looking forward to many more memories and years to come. I love you!
